The events leading to the man's arrest began on Sunday, Feb. 25 just before 3 a.m., when an officer noticed a BMW sedan traveling on the Saw Mill River Parkway near Marble Avenue in Thornwood with fake Tennessee license plates, no inspection sticker, and a registration sticker that expired in 2010, according to the Westchester County Police Department.

After police pulled the vehicle over, the officer noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from the driver's breath, as well as the odor of burnt marijuana on his clothes. After the driver failed a field sobriety test, he was arrested, the department said.

Authorities then realized that the man's driver's license had been revoked before finding a loaded 9mm handgun inside his vehicle, police added.

The driver, 42-year-old Corey Dudley of the Bronx, was charged with:

  • First-degree aggravated unlicensed operation;
  • Second-degree criminal possession of a weapon;
  • Driving while intoxicated.

Dudley was also issued summonses for numerous violations, including improper plates, no insurance, and having an open container of alcohol, authorities said.
